Our aim in this section of the website is to provide parents and carers with an overview of the type of activities we provide for the children of Marple and beyond, not only on Sunday mornings but throughout the week.
We strongly believe the spiritual life of any child is the responsibility of the parent but that can be a daunting task. We are here to help and support you in that area of your life. Take a look through the content of the site where you will find articles relating to helping children investigate and develop a relationship with God, ideas for fun activities plus information on the teaching themes we use at Kids' Church.
We have 4 groups at 9:15 on Sunday mornings covering the primary school ages as well as younger children and babies. The children and their families join with the main body of the Church for a short period of worship before moving to their age specific groups.
- Gems is the group for our under 3s. This lovely group is led by Sal Greenwood. Sal and her team use activities to help the children learn about God's love for them and those around them.
- Scramblers is the name of the group caring for 3-5 year olds. This group is led by Julia Dow (0161 427 8377). The group have lots of lively free play as well as craft and story times. It is always a pleasure to visit them and see the smiles on the faces of the children.
- Climbers is for 5-7 year old children (key stage 1 school children). This group meets in their own room for teaching and craft before joining the slightly older children for worship and games. This wonderful group is led by Judith Apsley (0161 427 8271) and her team.
- Explorers is for children aged between 8 and 11 (key stage 2 school children). Led by Nick Higgins (0161 427 4855) and his team, the group start Sunday morning enjoying age specific teaching and craft work before joining with the Climber children for worship and games.
At 11:15 on Sundays we have our Kids' Church cell meeting. This is a quieter, discussion based time for primary aged children. The Prayer Room is available at this time for younger children and parents and some of the Kids' Church team are available to chat to and lead the children in activities.
On Wednesday's during school term times we have our parent and toddler group "PlayAway" between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. Come and join us for this very informal, very friendly time where parents and carers can meet together and children and babies have the opportunity to play together.
We will try and fill this site with lots of interesting activities for your children but please be aware of the importance of monitoring what your children view. The Internet provides your children with access to thousands of resources -- some educational, some entertaining, and some with content inappropriate for children. We want to encourages you to take time to monitor your children's use of the Internet by visiting sites with them, playing games with them, and setting firm guidelines about which types of sites they are allowed to visit.
We know you can't be with your children constantly while they are online. However, if you take the time to instruct them before they're allowed to use the computer, you may keep them from being exposed to inappropriate adult-focused content, and even child predators who often lurk in chat rooms. Usage monitoring software is available commercially to help you with this task.
We want to help you fill your family's life with joy and we want to help you fulfil your child's potential by creating a fun and exciting environment for them. We welcome any feedback and are always willing to discuss issues with parents and carers.
